Job Summary
Providing clinical service delivery in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team of senior medical staff, clinical leaders, allied health, nursing staff and management to ensure delivery of high-quality health care services to patients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess the urgency and severity of patients through history taking, examination and investigation;
- Diagnosis, treatment, resuscitation, stabilization and referral of patients as necessary;
- Referring for appropriate interventions, procedures and support services as required;
- Referring all patients categorized as high-risk or requiring high-risk procedures or interventions;
- Treatment including but not limited to prescribing, minor surgery and other general practice procedures, counselling, psychological interventions, advising and education;
- Appropriate evidence-based screening, risk assessment and early detection of illness, disease and disability;
- Ongoing care and support for people with chronic and terminal conditions to reduce deterioration, increase independence and reduce suffering linking, where relevant, with appropriate service providers;
- Providing health education, counselling and information provision about health improvement, disease prevention and interventions or treatments that mitigate risk factors;
- Working with public health providers in the prevention and control of communicable diseases for individuals and families.
Requirements
- Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) with a minimum of one-year post-internship experience;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail;
- Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council and hold a valid practicing license;
- Ability to work effectively with a team in a culturally diverse environment;
- Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for health promotion, disease prevention, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life;
- Demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, epidemiologic, and social-behavioral sciences, as well as the application of knowledge to patient care.
