Job Title: Medical Director
Department: Clinical Services
Reports To: Chief Medical Director- Quality & Standards
JOB SUMMARY
Providing supervision and oversight to the healthcare professionals, supporting policies, procedures and protocols and ensuring clinical care is delivered in a safe and well-organized manner.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing leadership, supervising and evaluating the work activities of Medical, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Dental, Rehabilitation, and other Medical personnel
- Implementing an applicable continuous quality improvement program that includes monitoring and evaluation of clinical care activities and patient services with a timeline to assess the efficiency of corrective measures
- Facilitating discussions related to ethical patient care issues, assisting to achieve a satisfactory resolution to the patient care issue. Assisting with the resolution of clinical patient complaints
- Enhancing collaboration between the hospital and healthcare providers to promote teamwork and communication among the entire healthcare team
- Responsible for the supervision of all clinical aspects of the healthcare services in the hospital. Managing medical staff relations and behaviour/ impairment issues
- Actively involved in performance improvement initiatives to improve care, treatment and services and mitigate the risk of harm for patients served. Responsible for quality, safety and service of care provided to patients
- Providing input to cost optimisation initiatives and ensuring the patient’s interests drive performance improvement;
- Providing leadership for regulatory and accreditation compliance as related to the quality and safety of care delivered. Analysing audit results to assure patient care meets the expected standards
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- MBChB or its equivalent
- Currently licensed to practice by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
- Postgraduate education and experience related to the speciality’ of care is desirable
- At least a minimum of three 3 years working in a hospital with some leadership experience
- Demonstrates professionalism in all aspects
- Good managerial skills/ supervisory skills
- Good interpersonal skills & communication skills
- Good customer service skills.
