Job Title: Manager -Nursing Services
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Director, Nursing Services
JOB SUMMARY
Planning, organizing and coordinating all activities in the unit that involves nursing to ensure a high standard of care in line with the hospital’s policies and procedures
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide a vision for the nursing department while supervising and ensuring delivery of a professional and high standard of nursing care within the hospital while leading a team of nurses in delivering individual and team goals;
- Develop Nursing Quality Indicators, analyse and benchmark quality data to determine the overall level of nursing clinical performance;
- Lead the nursing unit in the implementation and review of Standard Operating Procedures for the nursing department aimed at providing safe and quality nursing care to patients;
- Mentor, develop and coach team leaders to ensure the smooth running of the unit at all times and succession planning;
- Ensure the Deputy Nursing Managers and Nursing Supervisors oversee the shift handover process to ensure it is seamless and nursing care remains of high-quality standards at all times;
- Develop and monitor the performance of the Rapid Response Team and be part of the Code Blue Committee;
- Plan and organize internal CMEs both departmental and with other disciplines;
- In liaison with the registration and admission desk and Consultants, ensure the efficient running of Consultants Clinics while improving turnaround time in all areas;
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- BSN/KRCHN holding a valid practising license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Valid ATLS/ACLS/EPLS/ETAT certification as applicable
- Relevant specialization Diploma
- Minimum of 8 years experience in a busy hospital 3 of which should be in a supervisory position
- Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Good managerial skills/ supervisory skills training
- Good interpersonal skills & communication skills
- Good customer care skills.
