JOB SUMMARY
Overseeing clinical service delivery in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team of senior medical staff, clinical leaders, allied health, nursing staff and management to ensure delivery of high-quality health care services to patients
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee day-to-day clinical, professional, administrative, and clerical staff management of patients; Working in partnership with the Heads of Departments to lead, support, co-ordinate and monitor teams within all of these services;
• Implement policies, procedures and work standards for clinical care of patients. Communicate policies and regulations and ensure staff members are compliant;
• Review recommendations on inpatient admissions, outpatient services, or cases not deemed appropriate for hospital-level services;
• Consult with providers, particularly when difficult issues arise concerning resource utilization and medical necessity;
• Working with the medical records team to capture appropriate diagnoses/ICD-10 codes, to ensure documentation accurately reflects the patient’s clinical condition and care;
• Giving direction to and training on patient process flow, and offering guidelines about level of care, length of stay, readmissions, and other utilization issues;
• Coordinating and scheduling activities of the Medical Advisory Committee; Coordinating and tracking departmental morbidity and mortality reviews;
• Coordinating and tracking hospital-wide and departmental CPD activities such as grand rounds and CMEs;
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in a Medical or Nursing Discipline or Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine
• Master’s degree in Healthcare Management desirable
• Experience working in a hospital or other medical facility
• 5 years’ experience as a clinical professional
• Experience managing staff in a medical environment
• Good leadership skills and ability to motivate others
