Job Title: Deputy Manager- ICU/ Critical Care
Department: Nursing
Reports to: Manager, Nursing Services
JOB SUMMARY
Planning, organizing and coordinating all activities in the ICU to ensure a high standard of care in line with the hospital’s policies and procedures
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles continuing responsibility for the management of the Critical Care Unit, personnel, fiscal and material resources
- Planning and coordinating all the operations of the department to ensure total and effective nursing care of critically ill patients
- Assessing, planning, implementing nursing intervention and evaluating patient outcomes and providing appropriate health care services
- Participate in the development and ensure implementation of organizational and departmental policies and procedures (SOPs) and quality improvement plans in the section including infection prevention
- Responsible for staff recruitment, staff planning, development of duty rotas, leave planning and staff evaluation including orientation and training of staff
- Control the departmental budget within the agreed parameters by ensuring efficient utilization of resources are used to maximum effect and take charge of stock control
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- KRN, KRCHN, BSc. Nursing
- Higher diploma in Critical Care Nursing
- Minimum of 6 years post clinical nursing of which 3 years should be in ICU/Critical Care Department
- Good managerial skills/ Supervisory skills training
- BLS certified, ACLS
- Good interpersonal skills & communication skills
- Good customer care skills.
